Pastor's Letter

Greetings Holmes Grove Church,                                                                                                                        November 1, 2023 I am thankful to God for all the great things you do for the Kingdom here at Holmes Grove Church. We want to thank you for recognizing my family and I during Pastor Appreciation Month. We love our church family.

I would also like to thank our leadership team for its assistance in preparing documentation needed for our Charge Conference 2023, which will take place on Saturday Nov. 11, 2023 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Diron Chloe as the presiding Elder.

We are looking forward to celebrating our 149th Church Anniversary on Friday through Sunday November 10-12. On Friday November 10, we will gather to see some of our members who are in Assisted Living Facilities or Rehabilitation Centers as permitted. On Saturday November 12 at 12:00 p.m., we will meet at the old church grounds and cemetery for a Memorial Service. At 1:30 p.m., we will meet in the Church Fellowship Hall for a movie for children and youth. At 4:30 p.m. we will go bowling at Triad Lanes in Greensboro. On Sunday, we will have our morning service at 9:15am, immediately followed by a brunch. Please join us with your family and friends.

As a Lighthouse Church, we are welcoming those people who seek hope and peace during this time of transition from their respective churches. Through the company called Outreach, “Welcome to our Church” cards have been sent to 49 people who have moved into the neighborhood. Soon, we will be sending out materials for the season of Advent. Please invite family, friends, guests, and those who may not know Christ to attend our weekly in-person or virtual worship services, our Chair Yoga Tuesdays, as well as our weekly Wednesday night Bible Study via Zoom. This fall, we have been studying the importance and sharing of food and water in all aspects of our life. Good always provides for us just like he did the chosen people of Israel during the time of Moses. They help to sustain us physically, mentally, and spiritually. Let us remember this as we continue to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Dr. John Henry, Jr.
