Por lo tanto, ofrezcamos continuamente a Dios por medio de Jesús un sacrificio de alabanza, el fruto de labios que profesan abiertamente su nombre.

Our Back To School Celebration
Students are back in school, and parents are rejoicing after a long, hot summer.
Congregational Care hosted a back-to-school celebration and Rev. Dr. John Henry, Jr. told students to give God their best and to do their best. Students of all ages came to the altar where we prayed for them, teachers and administrators this school year. Students received school supplies, gift cards and a Biscuitville breakfast bag to go! Thank you, Congregational Care!
Congratulations Jolie & VBS Team!
Thank you for your hard work and a blessed Vacation Bible School & Concert.

Aclamad con júbilo al Señor, toda la tierra.
Adora al Señor con alegría;
Mrs. Hamilton is Honored
Thank you for your service!
Our beloved Mrs. Hamilton was honored for being a Charter Member of the Sigma Chi Chapter of Chi Eta Phi, Sorority, Inc. In November of 1971, she and ten other nurses came together and founded a chapter of their nursing sorority in North Carolina. Mrs. Annie McIver (first president) & Mrs. Arrie Smith were also founders (now deceased).
There are only 2 surviving founders, and they were honored in April for their service, impact and legacy. Governor Roy Cooper and Congresswoman Alma Adams also congratulated them by name in two special video messages. Mrs. Hamilton is seen here with the other founder, Mrs. Margaret Wingfield.
Mrs. Hamilton is Black History. She has an amazing legacy and we are very proud of her. We thank God for her and her work in our community. (Photos and some of copy borrowed from Rickiah Wingfield. Her grandmother is the other founder.)

Women's Day Program 2021
What do we tell our children at home and in public schools about the mass incarceration of people of color? What is the role of the faith community in addressing this issue? What are the economic and political benefits of mass incarceration and how do they continue to sustain our criminal justice system? This was the discussion for the United Methodist Women's Day program. "Mass Incarceration of Communities of Color: Understand the Past, Question the Present, Change the Future.” Our speaker, Dr. Carol Moye, Visiting Professor and Doctoral Program Coordinator at Howard University, enlightened us and gave us food for thought and prayer. What a powerful presentation! A must see for everyone.

Our Amazing Anslyn is on TV!
We are very proud of Anslyn who has graduated from high school and who has been featured here on WFMY. Next, she will attend GTCC and will be in the Medical Records program. Anslyn is the founder of Anslyn's Ministry where she has provided relief bags for the homeless. She is also very creative and has started her own card business. We will celebrate Anslyn's graduation this Sunday at service and with a graduation parade at her home, 2-3 p.m. Congratulations to the Wright family and Hooray for Anslyn! May God continue to bless Anslyn in every way.
